Apothecary Cafe & Wine Bar

Staff - :D

Wine - well, it's wine. You don't want me judging it. I can hardly tell box wine from...well whatever is fancier wine. N/A

Everything else - from what I gathered while I was there...meh. I think my blasé attitude has to do with having to stand for the majority of my visit. Yes, it was my choice to wear heels, but we were at freakin' Uchiko for dinner, get off me. Once we all squeezed into a large-ish table, it was a bit nicer, but my throbbing toes and ankles were not havin' it. - : \

Cade, the main man that helped us, was delightful. He poured wine with a smile, he knew his shit, knew his SHIRTS and was very charming to our mostly tipsy gaggle of gals (plus the oh-so-lovely Eroll and Daniel)

My favorite thing about this place? I could not stop looking for Fraiser and Niles Crane. I'm more of a Marty...nah. I'm definitely Roz. Skankalots for life!

I will be back to try the hummus (I'm just dipping into being a food critic, but I have ALWAYS been a hummus critic) and see if I have a change of heart after actually sitting at a table and getting the FULL Apothecary experience. Let me know if you want to join c ;

This, ladies and gentlemen, was the spotlight of the bar! Cade!
Go try out Apothecary and tell him how awesome he is. He'll give you this real sweet grin and pour yo' wine all nice like.

One of the wines Ms. Darla bought and I tasted. It actually wasn't bad.

I got "A matter of fact..." before I threw it across the room.

Another bottle. Bad photographer.

First time at a really nice sushi restaurant. Wasn't really sure what to do. Chris The Bartender (careful, there is also a "Chris The Manager" who was a little frightening to me) was EXCELLENT. I didn't feel like an idiot and he described everything PERFECTLY. Once we sat, the waitress was not helpful at all and got moo-moo bossy cow SEVERAL times. Plates also went to the wrong person A TON! I know they probably like having those different people that bring out each dish and then describe the FUCK out of it, but it was silly to me and it definitely caused a lot of confusion and very long wait times for certain items.

THE FOOD. Oh, my. The pictures will speak for themselves. I tried a bit of everything. Need to go back for MORE!

Social Hour is awesome. $3-$6 appetizers and drink ($3 sake!!). Perfect for sushi virgins with smallish pockets!

HOT waiter dude. Good eye candy, ladies. Gentlemen - your eyes wont be disappointed either.

Uchiko and me

At the bar. Sake, brussels sprouts (crispy brussels sprouts, lemon chili) $3, takara nigori (unfiltered sake) $3, Eaten nasu nigiri (2 pc.) (grilled japanese eggplant, sumiso, goma shio ) $3, Complementary Thai Chili Peanuts (?)

This was koviche (fresh diver scallop, tomatillo, kalamata, black lime) $19
First time trying scallops!

Edamame vs. ?!?!

Best tasting item I tried. bacon sen (grilled kurobuta pork belly, green onion, fish caramel) $6

Not sure what two of those are, but the roll-in-a-box is a p-38 hand roll (japanese yellowtail, avocado, yuzu kosho, grilled negi) $6

I enjoy edamame. $4

gyutan nigiri (2 pc.) grilled beef tongue, yuzu kosho $3

kakiage (sweet potato-onion fritter) $3

I unfortunately did not catch the names of the two desserts I tried, and I can't quite place them on the menu. All you need to know is that both were AWESOME. The one above was very sweet. If you love chocolate, get ready to die and go to Heaven (I went to Town Lake, in a kayak, sharing a plate of this with my kayking partner, the Hot Waiter. Mmm...).

This one was very, very summery. If you likes fruit and yogurt and other frou frou stuff, enjoy!
